EDUC 4V12 - Student Teaching Clinical

Credits: 12
Prerequisites:
  • Admission to the Professional Semester
  • Admission to the School of Education
  • Passing Scores on all parts of the Core Academic Skills for Educators Series of Tests: Reading, Writing & Mathematics; OR
  • Show proof of a Composite Score of 24 on ACT; At least a score of 22 on the Reading, Mathematics and Writing Plus Series of ACT Tests
  • Passing Scores on the Praxis II: Content Knowledge and Principles of Learning & Teaching (PLT)

The Student Teaching Clinical is a fifteen week course where the teacher candidates gradually assume complete responsibility of the classroom and instruction under the supervision of an experienced, licensed/certified cooperating teacher and University professor.  The student teachers will observe, plan and teach lessons, assess students’ work, and reflect on the overall student teaching experience.  This course also provides student teachers the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills, and dispositions as they participate in professional conferences, workshops/seminars and mandated trainings.  The student teachers will be required to complete their teaching experiences in a classroom setting at two (2) different grade levels.  The course is designed to address the student teachers’ requirements regardless to the areas of specialization.
