Master of Education in Secondary Education: English Education
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree with a specialty area in mathematics requires a minimum of 36 semester credit hours. Candidates must complete a required specialization course (6 hours), a minimum of 18 hours in the mathematics specialty, and the professional education core (12 hours). Optional: secondary education electives. A written comprehensive examination in the mathematics specialization and the professional education core and/or electives is required. Advanced candidates seeking licensure must also complete the SOE portfolio, courses in Behavior Management and Arkansas History, and the student teaching experience.

Master of Education in Secondary Education, Mathematics
Track 1 - Licensure
Candidates with an Initial/Standard License in Math Education Professional Education Requirements - 15 Hours
Required Specialization Courses - 18 Hours
Educational Foundation/Elective Courses - 3 Hours
Advisor will recommend elective. Track 2- Candidates without Licensure in Math Education
These candidates complete a minimum of thirty-six (36) graduate hours for a Master’s degree which includes: fifteen (15) hours of general core courses, a minimum of eighteen (18) hours of specialty courses, and a minimum of three (3) hours of electives. Capstone Event: Graduate Comprehensive Examination. Passing Praxis I scores are required for admission to degree candidacy (by the time twelve (12) graduate hours have been completed). Those without a license in Secondary Math Education must also complete all listed prerequisites-nine (9) hours of undergraduate course requirements (if equivalent courses were not taken as an undergraduate), complete the School of Education Portfolio (Live Text), and Student Teaching: GEDU 5601 Student Teaching - Clinical (6 hours) and GEDU 5602 Student Teaching - Practicum (6 hours). Candidates must also pass Praxis II exams for Mathematics Licensure Test Requirements in the State of Arkansas. |
