GASP 5333 - Counseling Special Populations This course provides a research-based approach for students to develop culturally competent counseling skills applicable to Alcohol, Tobacco, Other Drug (ATOD) prevention and treatment. Current research of racial, ethnic, religious and gender minorities, and other marginalized groups (those living in poverty, survivors of disaster, international students) is reviewed to encourage insight into cultural and communication practices leading to effective counseling outcomes.
