MATH 4342 - Introduction to TopologyCredits: 3 Prerequisites: Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. Prerequisite: MATH 3331 . The study of Topology is of interest in its own right, but it also serves to lay the foundation for future study in analysis, geometry, and algebraic topology. This course presents the basic concepts of set theory and logic, topological spaces and continuous functions, connectedness, compactness, count ability, and separation axioms. Presents the basic ideas and techniques of analysis for functions of a single real variable and the technique of a precise analytic proof.
